Granted, their books were not academic works and I doubt their readers would have cared much for footnotes and extensive appendices, but in the absence of any research background you simply cannot tell what the plates are based on and whether they are reliable or not, unless of course you do some extensive cross-referencing.
This said, I do agree with Roly that they can’t be beat for nostalgia value. Their work is characterized by a realistic, precise style which gives their comics a classic touch. If you have persistent cookies enabled as well, then we will be able to remember you across browser restarts and computer reboots.

Accurate or not, fyncken are still beautiful books, and collectors’ items in their own right. If I remember right from some conversations fkncken alot of people, the Lace Wars books are real close to being accurate.

The Funckens also got some of the Prussian uniforms wrong, giving lapels to regiments which didn’t have any IR 35 being one and giving white smallclothes to regiments with funfken yellow waistcoats and breeches.
