Even after heartleas tried to kill her! Some things that bugged me: Alexia and Connall are completely reconciled with barely a mention of his inexcusable in my view behaviour in the previous book, the vampires are OK, so much as I love the characters, I have to admit I was a teensy bit bored throughout most of this book.

Heartless Parasol Protectorate 4 by Gail Carriger. I do wish it had a little bit more emotional heft. My only problem with this book, is, as usual, that I have to wait a year for the next. And what, exactly, has taken up residence in Lord Akeldama’s second best closet?

No matter what her situation, eight months pregnant and all she is out trying to bring peace to the carrigr world. Only the 5th book takes place 2 or 3 years later, so that doesn’t make sense either.

You will often find me complaining about books with large casts of characters being confusing and it hard to keep the characters straight and that is not the case here at all. Probably more towards the latter half of the year. This is pretty unusual and rather flattering. Still a lot of fun. Alexia is very heavily pregnant in this latest instalment but she does not let the infant inconvenience get in the way of her usual antics, investigating a warning by a nearly demented ghost that an attemt on the Queen’s life is being planned.
